Strengthening Educational Collaboration: SEAMEO CECCEP and BGP East Kalimantan Province

Education served as the primary foundation for building a bright future for future generations. Amidst the increasingly complex global challenges, collaboration among educational institutions was key to delivering a significant positive impact. Recently, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization - Centre for Early Childhood Care and Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP), in conjunction with the Badan Guru Penggerak (BGP) of East Kalimantan Province, opened promising collaboration opportunities to enhance the quality of education in the region.

At the "Coordination Meeting of Priority Programs BGP East Kalimantan Province 2024," which took place on February 23, 2024, various flagship programs from SEAMEO CECCEP were presented by the Deputy Director for Program, Ith Vuthy. The event was attended by key stakeholders, including the head of the Department of Education and Culture of Balikpapan City, as well as representatives from the BGP East Kalimantan Province. This discussion was also supported by the Deputy of Social, Cultural, and Community Empowerment of OIKN.

One highlight of the presentation was SEAMEO CECCEP's focus on enhancing the capacity of Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE) teachers. Programs such as the Mindful Parenting module for parents and the support for the implementation of Holistic Integrative ECD garnered attention from participants. Wiwik Setyawati, M.Pd, the Head of the Balai Guru Penggerak in East Kalimantan Province, expressed a positive response to the potential collaboration.

The "Our Happy Neighbourhoods" and Mindful Parenting modules for parents became a warm topic of discussion as they aided parents in better understanding the holistic needs and development of children. Asep Subagja, Head of Capacity Building at SEAMEO CECCEP, continued the presentation by explaining other programs, including Parenting training for addressing stunting and ensuring the basic rights of children.

This collaboration was expected not only to strengthen the education system in East Kalimantan Province but also to have a positive impact on children and create a foundation for quality education. Through this synergy, it was hoped to open opportunities for the even distribution of educational quality, contributing positively to the future of education in the region.

The steadfast commitment to enhancing the quality of education was a crucial step believed to bring positive impacts to the development and progress of East Kalimantan Province.
