Focus Group Discussion on Collaboration Evaluation with Partners

On December 21, 2022 - Advocacy and Partnership division of SEAMEO CECCEP, conducted a collaboration evaluation with partners with a blended mode at SEAMEO CECCEP office. This FGD aims to evaluate the cooperation carried out in 2022 with partners. Hopefully, the collaboration established in the future can improve the quality of program cooperation at the next level. This cooperation stops at the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the realization of potential programs.

"I am very grateful to partners who have worked together to support programs to improve early childhood education and parenting quality. Partners are asked to provide suggestions, and good work and this cooperation can be improved, "said Vina.

On the other hand, the Bandung City Service welcomed the implementation of this FGD. He said there must be program innovation and partner synergy for future cooperation with SEAMEO CECCEP. Collaborating with various stakeholders in holistic, integrative early childhood development is essential. It is vital to support government programs in implementing the independent curriculum and the Pancasila student profile.

Subsequent activities SEAMEO CECCEP presented annual programs that have been running, one of which is a training program for early childhood education teachers. Furthermore, there is a presentation of material by Arif Hidayat, PhD which highlights the importance of evaluation in training for teachers. In the past, the movement was made by policymakers, but over time, academics or teachers found a way of training ECCE teachers. Training should be found in learning activities or classroom-based teacher training perspective.

The training comes through the findings of teachers in learning, prepared by academics and policymakers. But now, what is not visible is collaboration in education. Unit analysis in children's learning activities with other children can be interpreted as a collaboration system. He also emphasized having a Proximal Development Zone (ZPD). Through ZPD, children lacking in learning will learn from other children, and children can directly learn by teaching children who cannot yet. ZPD burdens children's social interactions, which will facilitate their development.

The quality of education at the national level will not change unless there is a change in the quality of teachers. Teachers have an essential role in the academic institution, considering that teachers transform knowledge into students so that students are brilliant and have the character to prepare and develop human resources (HR).

Finally, in the future, SEAMEO CECCEP and partners can explore collaboration opportunities with various national and regional parties to develop early childhood education and parenting. It is hoped that the program at SEAMEO CECCEP will be enjoyed by teachers and academics who are collaborative and participatory.
