JAKARTA – SEAMEO CECCEP Director, Prof. Vina Adriany, and representatives from the SEAMEO Secretariat met with Indonesia's Minister of Primary and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Prof. Abdul Mu'ti, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, to discuss improving the quality of Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) in Southeast Asia. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, focused on strengthening collaboration and aligning programs to better serve the region's youngest learners.
Key figures from the Ministry joined the discussion, including Secretary-General Ir. Suharti, Director-General of Early Childhood Education Gogot Suharwoto, Director-General of Vocational, Special, and Special Needs Education Tatang Muttaqin, Acting Head of the Education Standards, Curriculum, and Assessment Agency Mr. Nino, Acting Head of the Communication and Public Relations Bureau Mr. Anang Ristanto, Director of Primary and Secondary Education Teachers Dr. Drs. Rachmadi Widdiharto, and SEAMEO Secretariat Director Dr. Datuk Habibah.
The discussions centered on several crucial areas, including the importance of high-quality ECCE for a competitive future generation, SEAMEO CECCEP's strategic role in regional ECCE development, and potential collaborations between the Ministry and SEAMEO. These collaborations could include capacity building for ECCE teachers, curriculum development, and joint research initiatives.
The meeting aimed to create a stronger partnership between the Ministry and SEAMEO, ultimately contributing to improved ECCE quality in both Indonesia and the wider Southeast Asian region. Both parties expressed their commitment to working together to ensure a brighter future for the region's children.
