Strengthening Early Childhood Educator in Pangandaran: New Training Initiatives and Strategic Partnerships



Pangandaran, August 26, 2024 — SEAMEO CECCEP organized a training session for Early Childhood Education (ECE) teachers in Pangandaran Regency. The event was attended by several prominent figures, including Dr. H.M. Agus Nurdin, M.Pd., Head of the Education, Youth, and Sports Office (Disdikpora) of Pangandaran Regency; Asep Kartiwa, S.Pd., M.Pd., Head of Curriculum and Student Affairs for PAUD PNF; Rizaldi Fahruloh, S.Pd., Head of Personnel for PAUD PNF; as well as Ikeu Tuti Sumiati, S.Pd., Chairperson of Himpaudi Pangandaran and Chairperson of IGTKI Pangandaran.

In his speech, Dr. H.M. Agus Nurdin, M.Pd., expressed high appreciation to SEAMEO CECCEP for organizing this training. He emphasized that early childhood education is a very important foundation and should be a priority for the government. "We are very pleased to hear about the new policy of 13 years of compulsory education, which demonstrates increased attention to early childhood education. This is proof of the government's commitment to strengthening the foundation of national education," he stated.

Furthermore, Agus Nurdin announced that the local government has initiated efforts to appoint kindergarten teachers as PPPK (Government Employees with Work Agreements), with the hope that more ECE teachers will obtain this status in the near future. He stated that this step is part of a concrete effort to improve the quality of early childhood education in Pangandaran Regency.

Professor Vina Adriany, Ph.D, The Director of SEAMEO CECCEP, in her remarks, also expressed gratitude for the good cooperation with the Education Office of Pangandaran Regency. She highlighted the importance of a holistic and integrative approach to early childhood education. "Early childhood education is a fundamental right of every child and serves as an important foundation for their future development," she said.

The event began with a series of speeches from the invited guests, followed by the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Education Office of Pangandaran Regency and Director of SEAMEO CECCEP. The scope of this collaboration includes capacity building for ECE teachers in Pangandaran through various programs such as workshops, seminars, and training sessions.

This training program is expected to enhance the teaching quality and understanding of ECE teachers in Pangandaran Regency, create a more conducive learning environment, and support the holistic development of early childhood. With strong support from the government and international educational institutions, the quality of early childhood education in Pangandaran Regency is expected to continue to improve significantly.
