The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization - Centre for Early Childhood Care and Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP) organized a collaborative event aimed at introducing its flagship programs and open opportunities for collaboration with the Education Quality Assurance Centre or Balai Penjaminan Mutu Pendidikan (BPMP) of South Sumatra Province. The introduction of SEAMEO CECCEP's programs took place during the "Technical Executive Unit (UPT) coordination meeting regarding the appointments of transformational teachers to become school principals or school supervisors" on February 19, 2024.
Prof. Vina Adriany, PhD, the Director of SEAMEO CECCEP, participated as a speaker in the event. During the meeting attended by BPMP South Sumatra, Education Departments of districts and cities in South Sumatra, Prof. Vina, along with Dr. Elis Rosdiawati, Deputy Director for Administration, and Rizal Nugraha, Head of Advocacy and Partnerships, proposed potential collaborations in the field of early childhood education and parenting.
In her presentation, Prof. Vina Adriany introduced the profile and flagship programs of SEAMEO CECCEP. The main focus of the programs includes enhancing the capacity of early childhood education (PAUD) teachers, Mindful Parenting modules for parents, and parenting programs focused on handling stunting issues. Other programs discussed include assistance in the Implementation of Holistic Integrative Early Childhood Education (HI-ECD) and strategies for fulfilling children's basic rights at the ECCE level.
One of the highlights in the presentation was the module on fulfilling children's rights, parenting programs for preparing children for elementary school, and Mindful Parenting for parents. These modules are designed to help parents understand children's needs and development holistically. Rizal Nugraha, Head of Advocacy and Partnership, continued by explaining other programs, including training for parenting in handling stunting and assistance in the implementation of Holistic Integrative Early Childhood Education (HI).
Emphasizing the importance of introducing sustainability values and efforts to fulfill children's rights from an early age, this initiative aims to create a generation that cares about the environment. Prof. Vina Adriany affirmed her commitment to integrate the learning outcomes from these programs into the educational policies and programs in South Sumatra.
It is hoped that the collaboration between SEAMEO CECCEP and BPMP South Sumatra can strengthen the education system in this area, have a positive impact on children, and establish a foundation for quality education. This event marks a promising initial step towards a better education development in South Sumatra.
