Strengthening Collaboration: University of Malaya Visited SEAMEO CECCEP Office

On Monday, May 6 2024, SEAMEO CECCEP received a visit from the University of Malaya to discuss potential collaboration. The lecturers from the University of Malaya, namely Prof. Madya Dr. Fonny Dameaty Hutagalung, Dr. Amira Najiha Yahya, and Dr. Nursyuhaidah Mohd Kadir, were warmly welcomed by the director of SEAMEO CECCEP, Prof. Vina Adriany. This meeting was held at the SEAMEO CECCEP office and was attended by all existing staff and interns staff.

The discussion event was opened by the MC, Mrs. Fatimah, staff from the Research and Development division. Then continued with a presentation regarding the vision, mission, achievements and programs of SEAMEO CECCEP by Prof. Vina. She also explained the three programs that SEAMEO CECCEP's research and development division is currently working on, which are stunting prevention, ethnoparenting, means documenting the best local practices for raising children, and the Anaking application, for tracking child development.

Dr. Amira expressed her response regarding the Anaking application. She appreciated how Indonesians still liked to use their native or regional languages. Prof. Vina then explained that anaking comes from Sundanese which means my dear child. Apart from that, Dr. Amira also expressed her good intentions to contribute to Anaking by providing short articles or becoming a reviewer.

In the question and answer session, Dr. Syuhaidah and Prof. Vina also talked about collaboration funding. Then Prof. Vina highlighted about one of the SEAMEO CECCEP programs, the writing fellowship. Where the five selected people whose manuscripts can qualify for the Scopus index will be given awards in the form of funding. Dr. Fonny also expressed her appreciation to SEAMEO CECCEP for being very active in creating programs and contributing to the education of teachers and parents regarding children. The University of Malaya is also very open to further collaboration with SEAMEO CECCEP.

This visit event then closed with the playing of the SEAMEO song. Then Prof. Vina gave a plaque to University of Malaya as a form of appreciation and last a documentation session. It is hoped that this visit will be the start of further discussions regarding various possible collaborations, regarding research and other, between SEAMEO CECCEP and the University of Malaya.
