Southeast Asian Ministers of Education
Organization - Centre for Early Childhood Care and Education and Parenting
(SEAMEO CECCEP), the institution focused on Early Childhood Education and Care,
presented a comprehensive overview of its profile and collaboration potential
in the Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT) region. The event took place on February 8-9,
2024, and was attended by the Heads of the Education Departments of the
Districts/Cities in the NTT Province.
In the opening session, Dr. Elis Rosdiawati,
the former Deputy Director for Administration of SEAMEO CECCEP,
enthusiastically introduced the profile and flagship programs of SEAMEO CECCEP.
The primary focus of SEAMEO CECCEP's programs included enhancing the capacity
of early childhood education teachers, the Mindful Parenting module for
parents, Parenting addressing stunting issues, assistance in the implementation
of Integrative Holistic Early Childhood Education (HI), and strategies for
fulfilling the basic rights of children at the early childhood education level.
One highlighted aspect was the Mindful
Parenting module for parents, introduced to help them understand the holistic
needs and development of their children. Rizal Nugraha, the current Head of
Advocacy and Partnership, continued the presentation by explaining other
programs, including training for Parenting addressing stunting issues and
guidance for selecting elementary schools.
As a flagship program, assistance in the
implementation of Integrative Holistic Early Childhood Education (HI) was also
introduced. This program aimed to introduce sustainability values and
environmental awareness from an early age, a crucial step in creating a
generation that cares about the environment.
The Head of the Education Departments of the
Districts/Cities in the NTT Province responded positively to this activity.
They emphasized their commitment to integrating the learning outcomes into the
policies and education programs in their respective areas. It is hoped that the
collaboration between SEAMEO CECCEP and local governments will strengthen the
education system in NTT, have a positive impact on children, and establish a
foundation for quality education.
