SEAMEO CECCEP Held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to Finalize Transition Modules from ECCE to Primary Education through Parenting Programs

SEAMEO CECCEP successfully held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to finalize enjoyable transition modules from early childhood education (ECCE) to primary school through parenting programs. The event, conducted in the conference room of SEAMEO CECCEP's office, was attended by 37 participants, including academics and early childhood education practitioners. The FGD aimed to refine parental guidance modules designed to help children transition smoothly to primary school. These modules comprised learning and training materials developed based on input from various stakeholders.

Asep Subagja, Head of SEAMEO CECCEP’s Division, emphasized the importance of gathering input from diverse groups to ensure the modules met real needs in the field. “We hoped these modules would assist parents in supporting their children’s education. Meanwhile, the holistic and integrative policy brief developed during this activity was expected to provide strategic input for policymakers to improve access to and quality of early childhood education services comprehensively,” he stated.

On this occasion, Prof. Vina Adriany, Ph.D., Director of SEAMEO CECCEP, also highlighted the importance of social transformation in early childhood education through collaboration between teachers and parents. “The focus of education is not only on teachers but also on fostering parents' understanding. These modules were expected to help parents support their children better,” she explained.

Valuable input was also provided by Dr. Tina Hayati Dahlan, M.Psi., and Dr. Euis Kurniati, M.Pd who stressed the need for simple language in the modules to ensure they were easily understood by parents. This event also served as a momentum to prepare for the launch of the modules, the policy brief, and the Anaking application, which would support the program's implementation in the field.

With a spirit of collaboration, SEAMEO CECCEP remained committed to driving innovation in early childhood education in Indonesia, aiming for a brighter future for the next generation.
