The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization - Regional Center for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP) organized a workshop titled "Journal Management and Scientific Article Writing." The workshop was designed to enhance participants' skills in journal management, including the article selection process, editorial management, and publication governance. Additionally, participants were invited to delve into the art of writing scientific articles, covering an understanding of article structure, effective writing methods, and strategies for presenting research findings clearly and persuasively. The event was held at the SEAMEO CECCEP office in Lembang, Bandung, on Monday, December 18, 2023. A total of 25 SEAMEO CECCEP staff members participated in this activity.
Prof. Vina Adriany, Ph.D., the Director of SEAMEO CECCEP, expressed optimism about the positive impact of this workshop. She hoped that all staff involved could gain valuable knowledge about journal management. All participants had the potential to play a more active role in the editorial process, with high aspirations to improve the journal ranking from the SINTA index to Scopus.
Ade Dwi Utami, Ph.D., a researcher and academician from Universitas Negeri Jakarta, explained that the workshop was organized to discuss crucial aspects related to journal indexing and national accreditation standards. The discussion covered various aspects, ranging from editorial team meetings, international indexing, to journal template improvements. Additionally, the speakers touched on important topics such as diversity in the editorial team, guidelines for authors, the urgency of time in the editorial process, publication costs, and anti-plagiarism policies. In a specific discussion, Ms. Ade Dwi Utami shared strategies to enhance journal quality, including involving contributions from professors and maintaining content quality.
In the article writing workshop session, Ms. Ade Dwi Utami not only shared knowledge about journal management but also provided inspirational tips. With enthusiasm, she revealed, "I started every day by creating drafts, noting with a pen wherever I was." This advice not only reflected dedication to writing but also emphasized the importance of consistency and creativity in the writing process.
This workshop not only provided a comprehensive overview of the efforts needed to enhance SEAMEO CECCEP's journal reputation internationally but also explored the goals of systematic literature reviews. In-depth discussions on presenting and synthesizing recent research in specific fields were the highlights. Furthermore, the workshop offered general steps in writing systematic literature reviews and highlighted conceptual literature review concepts focusing on theories supporting research topics.
In the end, this workshop became a journey of deep knowledge and skills for participants, offering a solid foundation for improving scientific writing quality and journal reputation on an international level.
