Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP) and Communication Studies Program, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia established a collaboration. This cooperation aimed to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. The signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) document took place at the UPI Communication Studies Program Building on September 18, 2023.
The signing of this cooperation was carried out by the Head of the Communication Science Study Program, Dr. Ahmad Fahrul Muchtar Affandi, M.Si., with Ith Vuthy, Deputy Director for Program SEAMEO CECCEP. The signing of this MoA reflects the strong commitment of both parties to work together towards improving the quality of education in Indonesia. One of the forms of this collaboration is supporting the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka program, which facilitates students to do internships. Through this internship, it is hoped that students can develop their self-potential skills.
Dr. Ahmad Fahrul Muchtar Affandi, M.Si., in his speech stated, "This collaboration is a very positive step in strengthening the education sector in Indonesia. With the help of SEAMEO CECCEP, we hope to work well together. He also explained that the communication science study program has 3 main focuses, namely public relations, broadcasting, and journalism. He also said that he hopes this cooperation can continue in other programs.
Ith Vuthy, Deputy Director for Program of SEAMEO CECCEP, introduced the profile and programs of SEAMEO CECCEP. One of SEAMEO CECCEP's profiles is Promoting Child and Family Wellbeing in the Southeast Asian Region Every program developed by governments, CSOs, and other stakeholders including SEAMEO CECCEP must ensure that children and family wellbeing are at the forefront of these programs. This theme is then translated into three main key programs namely 1). Children Access and Participation to Quality ECCE, 2. Anti-bias education and 3. Holistic and integrated ECEC.
This collaboration reflects the commitment of UPI and SEAMEO CECCEP to work together to improve education in Indonesia, especially in developing student potential with internships. Hopefully, this collaboration can provide great benefits for the world of Indonesian education and bring positive changes in the quality of education.
