Bandung, July 25, 2024 – SEAMEO CECCEP proudly celebrated its 7th anniversary at the Travelo Hotel in Bandung. Under the theme "Sevendary," this celebration marked a milestone reflecting the organization’s dedication to advancing early childhood care and education (ECCE) throughout Southeast Asia.
Since its inception, SEAMEO CECCEP has been at the forefront of promoting ECCE in the region. Over the past seven years, the organization has implemented various programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of ECCE, supporting parents, and ensuring holistic development for children. This success was a testament to the collaborative efforts of the dedicated team, partners, and stakeholders.
The event began with a speech by SEAMEO CECCEP Director, Prof. Vina Andriani, Ph.D., who expressed that the past seven years represented a stepping stone towards strengthening collaboration and achieving high-quality early childhood education. "Thank you to the guests who attended this event," Prof. Vina said. The attendees included partners such as the Tanoto Foundation, SEAMEO Centre Indonesia, the Head of East Manggarai District, the Education Offices of Manggarai District, East Manggarai District, East Sumba District, and Purwakarta District.
The keynote speaker, Ir. Haris Iskandar, Ph.D. (Director of Early Childhood Education, Kemdikbudristek, Indonesia), delivered a presentation on the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Early Childhood Education program. He emphasized four key characteristics of quality schools: 1) Student-centered learning, 2) Reflective, enthusiastic learning and sharing, 3) A safe, inclusive school climate celebrating diversity, and 4) Leadership for continuous service improvement.
The celebration not only highlighted the organization’s journey over the past seven years but also introduced new initiatives for the future. Through presentations by each division head, the event aimed to strengthen relationships with stakeholders, promote further collaboration, and inspire ongoing commitment to improving the quality of early childhood care and education in Southeast Asia.
The "Sevendary" event was not just a celebration of SEAMEO CECCEP’s achievements but also a forward-looking initiative to build on success and address future challenges in ECCE. The event promised to be an engaging and insightful moment, inspiring continued dedication to the development and well-being of children throughout Southeast Asia.
