Partnership between SEAMEO CECCEP and Toba District: Improving Education Quality and Teacher Empowerment

SEAMEO CECCEP established a partnership with the Toba District Education, Youth and Sports Office. This momentum was marked by an MoU Signing Ceremony. In this event, the Regent of Toba, Ir. Poltak Sitorus, as well as the Director of SEAMEO CECCEP. Prof. Vina Adriany, PhD, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) document on September 9, 2023. The MoU document signing ceremony was held at the SEAMEO CECCEP auditorium building and witnessed by the Board of directors of 7 SEAMEO Centers Indonesia and staff. 

In the dialog, Ir. Poltak Sitorus expressed his aspirations for this cooperation. He hoped that through this cooperation, it could have an impact on teachers in Toba Regency. Starting from early childhood education teachers to high school teachers can improve the quality of the learning process and increase teacher competence.

On the other hand, the Toba Regency Office also signed a collaboration with SEAMEO Qitep in Language, Qitep in Mathematics, and Qitep in Science. This cooperation is the first step in the development of education in the region and will bring great benefits to the community and education in Toba Regency. 

This cooperation includes various areas of research, teacher capacity building that will be useful to improve teacher competencies.  Teachers will have access to training and professional development programs specifically designed to improve their skills in teaching and facilitating effective learning. This cooperation also includes collaboration in educational research that aims to improve understanding of the learning process and effective teaching.

In addition, the cooperation will also enable the exchange of experience and knowledge between the two institutions, opening the door for further innovation and development in the field of education. In their opening speeches, representatives from both institutions expressed the importance of this cooperation in creating a higher quality and relevant education for the future. They also emphasized their commitment to work together in a strong spirit of collaboration, with the hope that the results of this cooperation will have a significant positive impact on education in Indonesia.

This collaboration reflects both institutions' determination to embrace a brighter future for education and prepare future generations with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in an ever-evolving global era.
