Bandung Indonesia - Universitas Putra Malaysia visited the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care and Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP) on July 28, 2023. This visit aimed to share experiences and knowledge about early childhood education and parenting. The visit was designed to allow students to expand their knowledge, ideas, and experience and enhance fruitful cooperation between the two institutions.
The delegation of Universitas Putra Malaysia, led by Dr. Marzni Binti Mohamad Mokhtar, and 15 students were warmly welcomed by Prof. Vina Adriany, P.hD Director of SEAMEO CECCEP. Their presence received heartfelt appreciation and became tangible evidence of the commitment of both parties to contribute to the development and advancement of education in the region.
In a welcoming speech, the Director of SEAMEO CECCEP shared information about the center's programs in research, advocacy & partnership, and capacity building. She added that on 25-26 July 2023, SEAMEO CECCEP successfully conducted the Southeast Asian Dialogue on Early Childhood Education (SEAPD on ECCE). Through international dialogues, there are many benefits. Beyond meeting with policymakers, the event provided valuable opportunities for governments, policymakers, stakeholders, organizations, practitioners, and academics for better early childhood education and parenting policies. Created an important declaration for the advancement of education in the region.
The visit aims to strengthen the cooperation between Universitas Putra Malaysia and SEAMEO CECCEP in various educational research and development projects in the future. Professor Vina hopes this visit will benefit both parties and create a more empowered and influential academic environment in the Southeast Asian region.
SEAMEO CECCEP expressed their appreciation for the visit from Universitas Putra Malaysia and is committed to forging closer ties by sharing knowledge and innovative ideas. Ith Vuthy, Deputy Director for Programs, introduced the profile of SEAMEO CECCEP to all students. He explained the flagships of SEAMEO CECCEP. He highlights Children's Access and Participation in Quality ECE. Ensuring all boys and girls have equal access to quality, ECD is one of the mandates of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Furthermore, both institutions hope to work together to address various educational challenges and positively contribute to the community and the nation. The visit would be a good starting point to closer cooperation between Universitas Putra Malaysia and SEAMEO CECCEP. The door for other collaborations in education and research in the future is wide open. Hopefully, this cooperation can be a step forward for educational development in the Southeast Asian region.
