Jakarta, 29 June 2026 – The Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care, Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP) participated in the Co-Creation Workshop on the Early Childhood School Leadership Program, organized by Global School Leaders (GSL) in collaboration with Tanoto Foundation and supported by Ishk Tolaram Foundation, Nomura Foundation, and Quantedge Advancement Initiative. The workshop took place at the Impact Gallery, Tanoto Foundation, Jakarta, and brought together key stakeholders to collaboratively develop a school leadership program aligned with national and local priorities for early childhood education.
SEAMEO CECCEP was represented by Dedi Saputra, Officer of Advocacy and Partnership, who contributed to the discussions and the co-creation process of the leadership program. His participation reflected SEAMEO CECCEP’s commitment to strengthening leadership capacity in early childhood education through collaboration with government agencies, development partners, professional associations, and academic institutions.
The leadership program was designed to strengthen the capacity of early childhood school principals to implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning practices. The pilot implementation was planned for Sidoarjo Regency and Magelang Regency, with the aim of fostering high-quality leadership that supports improved learning experiences for young children.
The workshop also brought together representatives from the Directorate of Early Childhood and Non-Formal Education Teachers of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the Directorate of Early Childhood Education, the Education Offices of Sidoarjo and Magelang Regencies, the National Accreditation Board for Primary and Secondary Education (BAN PDM), HIMPAUDI, IGTKI-PGRI, the Indonesian Association of Raudhatul Athfal Teachers (IGRA), universities, donor organizations, and other development partners.
Throughout the workshop, participants reviewed the program design, training structure, and curriculum to ensure alignment with the competency standards for early childhood school principals, as well as national education policies and local government priorities. Through group discussions and feedback sessions, participants identified strategic recommendations to ensure that the training program would be relevant, practical, and responsive to the needs of early childhood education leaders in Indonesia.
SEAMEO CECCEP's participation reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to strengthening partnerships and supporting evidence-informed initiatives that enhance leadership in early childhood education. The collaborative approach adopted during the workshop demonstrated the importance of engaging multiple stakeholders in designing sustainable professional development programs that are responsive to local contexts while supporting national education priorities.
The recommendations generated during the workshop were expected to inform the refinement of the training curriculum and modules before the pilot implementation in Sidoarjo and Magelang. Through this collaboration, SEAMEO CECCEP continued to support efforts to improve the quality of early childhood education by promoting effective school leadership and fostering strategic partnerships across sectors.
