Strengthening Regional Collaboration: SEAMEO CECCEP Leadership Participated in the ASEAN-UK SAGE Forum 2026

Jakarta, 2–3 March 2026 – The Director of SEAMEO CECCEP, Prof. Vina Adryany, Ph.D., together with the Deputy Director and Deputy for Administration, Suhendri, Ph.D., participated in the Learning for the Future: ASEAN-UK SAGE Evidence and Insights Forum held in Jakarta. The regional forum was part of the ASEAN-UK SAGE programme, which focused on strengthening foundational learning, gender equality, and inclusive education across Southeast Asia.

The event was also attended by Datuk Dr Habibah Abdul Rahim, Director of the SEAMEO Secretariat and together with her delegation, along with senior officials from SEAMEO member Countries, representatives of regional institutions, researchers, and development partners.

Over the two-day programme, the forum discussed various strategic issues, including the utilization of SEA-PLM results to strengthen literacy and numeracy, strategies to address Out-of-School Children and Youth (OOSCY), structured pedagogy, gender-responsive education, women in STEM, and digital transformation through EdTech. The forum also featured a gallery walk showcasing best practices and a high-level policy dialogue to formulate regional follow-up actions.

The primary objective of the forum was to strengthen collaboration among ASEAN countries in improving the quality of foundational learning through evidence-based policy, while ensuring inclusive and gender-responsive education systems. The outcomes of the forum provided strategic input for the development of the ASEAN Workplan on Education 2026–2030.

The active participation of SEAMEO CECCEP’s leadership reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to advancing quality, inclusive, and sustainable early childhood education and foundational learning across the Southeast Asian region.
