Jakarta, 25 February 2026 – The SEAMEO Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP) conducted an initial discussion for the preparation of a STEM-based numeracy literacy study in collaboration with the Directorate of Early Childhood Education, Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, on Wednesday (25/2). The activity was part of a series of preliminary coordination meetings for the development of studies on STEM-based numeracy literacy and climate change conducted from 25–28 February 2026.

The meeting aimed to discuss the direction of the STEM-based numeracy literacy study that was relevant to the needs of early childhood education in Indonesia. The discussion focused on strengthening numeracy literacy concepts from an early age through contextual, exploratory, and experience-based learning approaches.

Through this activity, the SEAMEO CECCEP team and the Directorate of Early Childhood Education discussed opportunities for collaboration and the development of studies that could support evidence-based early childhood education policies. The discussion also served as an initial step in formulating a study framework expected to contribute to improving the quality of early childhood learning.

The activity was attended by the Deputy for Program, Widodo Suhartoyo, and the Research Division team consisting of Assila Prianggi, Sitti Huzaimah, and Heri Kosmawan of SEAMEO CECCEP. They were assigned to conduct initial coordination with strategic partners in developing the STEM-based numeracy literacy and climate change studies. The results of the meeting were expected to serve as the foundation for the implementation of the subsequent research activities.
