Jakarta, 3 September 2024 – The World Bank has launched a significant report titled "The Care Economy in Indonesia: A Pathway for Women's Economic Participation and Social Well-being" at Soehana Hall, Jakarta. This report highlights the crucial role of early childhood education in enhancing children's well-being, while also pointing out the limited support provided by early childhood development facilities.
A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion featuring Prof. Vina Adriany, PhD., Director of SEAMEO CECCEP. SEAMEO CECCEP, a regional organization, is dedicated to promoting the well-being of children and families within early childhood education and parenting settings. Prof. Adriany's participation underscored the organization's commitment to integrating education and care.
During the discussion, Prof. Adriany emphasized the inseparable nature of education and care in early childhood settings. "Education and care are like two sides of a coin; they cannot be separated," she stated. She also addressed the common misconception that caregiving is solely a female responsibility, concluding with a powerful message: "Caring is not a female responsibility, but a shared responsibility."
The insights shared by SEAMEO CECCEP and the report's findings highlight the need for integrated approaches to early childhood education and care. These approaches are essential for fostering holistic development and well-being for children in Indonesia.
