Over the past seven years, SEAMEO CECCEP has consistently strived to improve the quality of early childhood education (PAUD) in Indonesia. Despite these efforts, PAUD teachers still face significant challenges, such as limited resources, lack of training, and high student-teacher ratios.
ECCE teachers play a crucial role in creating a positive and enjoyable learning environment for children. Therefore, SEAMEO CECCEP organized the "Happy Teacher" seminar as part of their 7th-anniversary celebration themed "Sevendary."
On July 4, 2024, SEAMEO CECCEP held the "Happy Teacher" seminar. The seminar aimed to bring together experts and practitioners to share their knowledge and experiences on creating a happy and supportive learning environment for children. "We believe that happy teachers will be more effective in improving the quality of early childhood education," said Prof. Vina Adriany, Ph.D., Director of SEAMEO CECCEP. "We want to find strategies to ensure our teachers are happy, motivated, and equipped to provide the best education for children."
This seminar provided a valuable opportunity for the educational community to learn together, share best practices, and celebrate the dedication and hard work of ECCE teachers. The event was attended by 60 ECCE teachers from HIMPAUDI, IGTKI, and IGRA in the Jayagiri District. Speakers included Assila Prianggi Humaira Bain (Capacity Building Officer) and Rismaya Nurmalasari, M.Pd (Indonesia University of Education).
Rismaya emphasized the importance of maintaining the mental health of ECCE teachers. "To create happy teachers, their well-being must be well-supported," she said. Assila Prianggi added that to ensure happy teachers, they need to develop the ability to manage classrooms that respect children's rights. "Teachers need to continually learn about classroom management that meets children's rights," she explained.
Through this seminar, it is hoped that ECCE teachers can develop new insights, find inspiration, and gain motivation to continue contributing to the improvement of early childhood education quality in Indonesia.
