Bangkok, Thailand - Professor Vina Adriany, Director of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP), recently participated in the Strategic Workshop on Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) held at the Avani Sukhumvit Bangkok Hotel on March 27-28.

The workshop, initiated by the SEAMEO Secretariat, aimed to enhance the monitoring, evaluation, and learning capacity of SEAMEO as part of its organizational development process. This endeavor sought to advance strategic cohesion and resilience by improving MEL processes and tools across the organization. The objectives of the workshop included co-developing and refining the organizational SEAMEO MEL Strategy, providing SEAMEO Centres and Networks with expert input on MEL practices, and creating a platform for sharing successful MEL approaches among participants.

Among the attendees were SEAMEO Centre and Network Directors, SEAMEO Secretariat Director and Deputy Directors, SEAMEO Secretariat Staff, representatives from the British Council, and MEL Expert Consultants. The project was established during the 1st SEAMEO Strategic Workshop on MEL on November 28, 2023, in collaboration with SEAMEO Centre and Network Directors. It encompassed the development of an organizational MEL strategy, software implementation, capacity building, and piloting-for-scale.

The implementation of this project provided SEAMEO Secretariat and SEAMEO Centre management with reliable insights into organizational activities and their impact on the SEAMEO Results Framework. This information will facilitate strategic decision-making, identification of implementation gaps, clearer communication of achievements to stakeholders, resource mobilization, and smoother partner onboarding processes. The 2nd SEAMEO Strategic Workshop on MEL, funded by the ASEAN-UK Supporting the Advancement of Girls’ Education (SAGE) Programme, built on the progress made during the previous workshop. It further developed a comprehensive SEAMEO MEL Strategy and offered capacity-building opportunities and expert insights on MEL practices.
